The cream always rises to the top, and that’s the exact reason Lock And Load clinched victory in the last race at Mornington this afternoon under the guidance of a 10 out of 10 ride from top heavy weight jockey Jamie Mott.
Mott began Lock And Load brilliantly from an outside draw, crossing to sit just off the leader in second place and while over racing in the early part of the race, Lock And Load eventually relaxed hitting the front just before the top of straight and fought off all challengers to score a narrow victory.
At the 150m mark Lock And Load had both Rokeby Lad and Elegantly Wasted coming at him from both sides when Mott put the whip away, rode the horse hands and heels where he lifted, found and scored in a thrilling finish.
A big congratulations to both Mitch Beer and Max Hinton who backed the horse up in 6 days from his last start at Kyneton and was presented in perfect order at Mornington where there was no better looking horse in the yard.
A great thrill for all connections concerned especially Mr Kay Lim and his family who where on course to celebrate the victory.
Also to fellow owners in David Moon, Kevin Quinn and of course MBH Racing.
Well done Locky and let’s hope there are plenty of more wins in store for the stable.
