MBH Racing have hit the ground running in the 2017/18 racing season with the up and coming mare Journeygirl saluting at Sandown yesterday afternoon.

The daughter of Passanger was only having her fifth race start and just keeps improving every time, scoring a convincing win in the Chandler Macleod Handicap under the guidance of champion jockey Damien Oliver.

Journeygirl was having her first start back from a spell after a luckless run back in mid June on the Geelong synthetic and really appreciated the heavy 9 conditions to score at the blow out odds of $41

Both Mitch Beer and Max Hinton have always had a good opinion of the mare but were unsure yesterday as to how she would handle the heavy conditions as she was unproven on the ground.

Well she certainly showed that the wet conditions don’t bother her and looks set for a strong and successful campaign this time in.

Both Beer and Hinton will now look at some nice mare race options for her over the coming months and of course there main goal is to get some black type with her.

They also feel we will see the best from Journeygirl in next years autumn carnival so there is still plenty to look forward with her.

Congratulations also must go to Journeygirl’s owners in Tim and Fiona Bailey from Perth who have been more than patient with her and are now enjoying the rewards.

MBH Racing are very much looking forward to the new racing season ahead with such horses as Polisher and Gwenneth looking to fly the flag over the coming months as well as a great band of 2 and 3 year olds coming through which are yet to be produced at the track.

The 2016/17 season was a successful won for the stable winning 16 races at only their first full season.

We still have shares available in our recent 2 year old purchases so please feel free in heading to our horses available page for further information.

We look forward to a great season ahead and wish everyone connected to the stable the very best of luck over the next 12 months and beyond!
