NZ bought and bred mare Damselfy’s Kept started the new racing season in style for Mitch Beer Racing taking out the Schweppes maiden over 1400m this afternoon at Pakenham.

Having only her second start for Beer Racing, Dameslfly’s Kept was ridden aggressively from the gate by Jake Noonan, took up second position from the word go and was far too strong for her rivals in the straight to score a gutsy win.

The mare had only previously raced at Moe where she finished fourth and did not handle the track so getting onto the synthetic track this afternoon certainly worked wonders and she certainly looks like a horse going places.

Trainer Mitch Beer will now give the mare a slight freshen up with two weeks in the paddock thinking she is going to be perfect for those Friday night races at Moonee Valley.

Congratulations to all of the connections, many of who are racing their first horse with MBR.

Let’s hope there is plenty of more wins in store for Damelsfly’s Kept and for MBR in the 2018/19 racing season.

Where off and running!!!
