Mitch trained the dam, Almighty Girl, and she was a mare we always had a lot of time for. She was a Group 3 winner, had plenty of natural speed and was as honest as they come. We've always said if we had a chance to buy one of her foals that we absolutely would!
When this colt came up for sale, we made a point of having a good look at him and he didn't disappoint.
By Maurice and out of a proven Group-winning mare, he has a pedigree that stacks up, but what really sold us was the horse himself. He's an athletic colt with a good attitude but also with a whole stack of upside.
Having followed the family for so long gives us a level of confidence you don't always get when buying yearlings. We know exactly what his dam was like to train, we know the traits she had as a racehorse and we're excited to see those qualities come through in this colt.
Not every yearling purchase comes with a backstory, but this one does. We always said that if the right horse out of Almighty Girl came along we'd love to bring him home, and when we saw this colt, we knew he was coming back with us.

Lot 210 from the Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale is a colt by Toronado out of Flemington stakes-winning mare Mockery.
He is just Mockery's third foal, having already produced a city-placed horse by American Pharoah. The mare has shown she can produce competitive types, and this colt carries that same athleticism and scope.
Toronado remains in strong form. Last week his son Stormy Grove, purchased for $135,000 at this sale, won the Hong Kong Classic Cup over 1800 metres at Sha Tin. These continued strong results in Hong Kong and Australia confirm the sort of performance his progeny can achieve.
This colt is well put together, scopey, and balanced. He moves nicely and presents as a straightforward type who should progress strongly with preparation.

Tiger of Malay was a high class 2yo who trained on, and his stock are strong, forward types. This filly fits that profile. She is well balanced, correct and athletic, with good strength.&nbsp; She has enough natural strength to suggest she could be up and going as a 2yo if she shows the right signs, but there is also the scope for her to improve into her 3yo season.
She is BOBS eligible and TASBRED nominated, providing access to strong local programming and genuine earning opportunities with the right placement.
Overall, she is a straightforward, sensible filly by a stallion on the up, and a solid female pedigree behind her. For buyers looking for an honest, athletic filly who should train on and give herself every chance, she represents a very sound option at an extremely attractive price point.

A new chapter began in style at Hawkesbury today, with Greyt Thinker claiming victory as the very first runner - and first winner - for the Mitch Beer and George Carpenter training partnership.
We&rsquo;re especially pleased to share this milestone with Darby Racing and their ownership group, whose ongoing support in placing horses with our stable is greatly appreciated.
Mitch and George said after the race: &ldquo;To get our partnership underway with a winner is a great feeling, and we&rsquo;re grateful to Darby Racing and their owners for trusting us with Greyt Thinker. Hopefully it&rsquo;s the first of many.&rdquo;

A First for the Partnership

Desert Voice (GB) finished up her quarantine and headed to the yard yesterday with her first day under saddle today. 
<iframe src="https://player.vimeo.com/video/876253900" width="560" height="315" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe> We're extremely excited to have such a well bred and well credentialed filly join the yard, she's precisely the type of horse who will use the expansion into Kembla Grange to it's fullest. She'll head up to Kembla next week where she'll have 6-8 weeks work to acclimatise before she is tipped out for a short break.&nbsp; She'll then come back in and get ready to target some good Autumn races.

Import Takes Her First Steps
