Mnementh and the Trek to The Kosciuszko

It's going to be a long week at the yard with the excitement of having a live chance in the $2million The Kosciuszko set to be run on Saturday 15 October at Royal Randwick.

It's been a fairytale lead up into the race with our old warrior Mnementh, in arguably the best form of his life, getting a slot in the world's richest race for country-trained horses. And the slot-holder who has taken him into the race is none other than one of his owners and great friend to the stable Michael Dyordyevic, or Mick Jordo as we all know him! Mick, his lovely wife Verity and their awesome son Reg have been stalwarts of the stable since our move to Albury but not only that and more importantly become friends that are basically family since.

When The Kosciuszko slot-holder tickets were drawn it came up that one ticket was from North Albury and Mick and Mitch's phones LIT UP with Mitch saying he called him about 407 times when he saw the location come up! They were ringing each other and Jordo in breathless excitement saying 'I think that's the number, I think it's me!' But before Jordo could confirm that he had won, his wife Verity put her phone on private and pranked him pretending to be Racing NSW!

But enough about the people behind the horse, now about the horse, Mnementh himself. The horse who's name no-one can pronounce, the horse who went from the brink of retirement to now the brink of The Kosciuszko glory! He's been an incredible horse for the stable and has certainly changed all our lives on the way. He had a good hit-out at Wangaratta Racecourse last week where the club kindly allowed us to gallop on the course proper in the lead up to this weekend, we can't thank them enough for that with all the rain we've had. He's pulled up in fine fettle so now we try not to let Toby, his strapper, wrap him in too much cotton wool! And we wait...

Best of luck to everyone involved with the Big M, let's hope he's the talk of the town on Saturday!
